We faced a couple of operational hurdles during construction:

  • Setting up the plant on an active university campus, which created the risk of noise pollution and of disruption to daily campus activities
  • The presence of underground services and cables posed a challenge for the installation of the solar car park foundations

We overcame these hurdles by:

  • Working closely with university management to ensure minimal disruption by installing the solar plant in stages and during off-peak hours (late nights and early mornings), whenever possible
  • Carefully installing every single foundation so that the underground services were avoided. In some instances, avoiding the services was not possible so we re-routed them, at no additional cost to the university.

The rooftop and carport solar plant at Amity University will offest 25% of electricity being consumed via the grid. The solar power project is expected to abate 546 tons of CO2 per annum, which equals abating greenhouse gas emissions from more than 107 passenger cars driven for an entire year.
